A Day in the Life

A friend of mine posted a "day in the life" segment, and I thought it'd be a good idea to remind my future self what our sweet little life is like. This is our life, in words, pictures, and rambled thoughts of mine. For unaccounted time, we were doing one of the following: playing, snuggling, feeding, changing the G. :)So, here goes...

7:00ish-J's alarm has gone off-off and on. He wakes up and starts getting ready while Baby G and I snuggle in bed.

7:20-J can't find his work pants. I suggest looking on the couch or in the washer/dryer. No luck.

7:30-J runs out the door to grab one of his work pants at the dry cleaner and to hopefully make it to work by 8 (He did-wahoo!)

7:31-I get up and start looking for J's pants. They were on the floor. Silly guy. I start laundry.

7:32-J forgot something and runs back into the house to get it. I didn't hear him come in. I scream when he comes (more like creeps!) behind me. I'm awake now. :)

7:35- Gavin wakes up. I feed him. He plays with his bear while I wash, dry, and fold laundry.

7:45- I turn on some Pandora, as he's getting bored. We listen to Bob Marley, Mat Kearney, Parachute, Maroon 5, and oldies. Yes, that's an awesome mix.

8:00- The G's getting bored. I show him videos of himself on the tablet. Hey-it's ok for a baby to be self-centered...until he's how old? I dunno.

8:30- We come downstairs for breakfast. He eats some applesauce and gets it all over his face. Cutie pie.

9:15- I put Gavin down on his playmat and I send a few e mails for Primary stuff.

9:45-Gavin is getting tired, so I feed him and he goes to sleep.

10-12- Gavin is napping, so I take a shower, get ready for the day, try to find immunization records for my new job, clean the house, look for recipes for Pi day dinner and dessert, pump, call my mom and chat, make a shopping list and make Gavin some peas for him to try later today. I boil them, put them in a food processor my mom got us (thanks, Mom!), and strain them with a steamer, as I'm too cheap to go buy a strainer. I eat the remaining pea skins and such that's left. Yup, I am a culinary lunch genius these days.;)

12-Baby G is hungry and in need of serious snuggle time. He was making "crying coo" noises in his sleep. He doesn't want to be put down, and I appreciate the snuggles and loves because I know he won't want to as much when he's older. Mini photo-shoot time:

12:15- I am typing this post as Gavin sits on my lap and sucks on my chin....Seriously, it's one of his favorite things to suck on. I love his snuggles.

12:30- A lady from the ward calls to see what instrument I want to do for our upcoming talent show on the 26th. Um, piano and singing it is. I just gotta pick a song. Which leads us to...

12:45-Piano time! I put the G in his swing and play/sing (seriously, they gotta come up with a term that sounds cool for this) a couple songs. I can't decide. I'll recruit Justin and prob Cortney to help me pick one later.

1:30- Let's go to the grocery store! We pick up some stuff at Kroger. I LOVE Kroger. It's one of my favorite things about the East Coast. The only thing I don't like is that they have these lame ads on the part to put your car seat that won't let you attach the car seat. Lame. I carried him around in the Baby Bjorn with a sock monkey hat on. Of course, everybody had to ooh and ahh over him. We got some good deals of course, and a sweet lady helped us put our groceries away. Whoops-I just realized he still had some peas up his nose. Hopefully, nobody called CPS.

2:10- Snack time! By this time, I'm starving. I often skip lunch because I'm too busy doing stuff during the G's nap to eat lunch, and then I get to 2, and I could eat anything. I remembered the new Taco Bell happy hour deals, and run over and grab a griller for a dollar. Yum! Don't judge, eat fudge.

2:20- We get home, and huzzah! Gavin knocked out for his afternoon nap in the car. Sweet. Now I unload the groceries and start prepping dinner.

2:40- An elder calls. He checks in on when dinner is, tells me I'll be feeding five instead of four missionaries, and asks me to text them our new address.

2:50- Whoops. I forgot to text the elder back. I was caught up in making dinner. I respond back with our address.

3:35- Gavin wakes up and is a starvin' Marvin! I am nursing him and typing. Skill, I know. He just spit up EVERYWHERE.

3:55- Gavin wants to eat again. He didn't get his fill apparently. I feed him.

4:00- I put him in his bouncy. Yay! It just finishing drying after being washed. He plays in it while I cook.

4:30- A girl on my ward b-ball team calls and says she can pick me up. Wait...it was my turn. Oh well. We'll figure it out.

4:40- I call Justin to make sure he'll be home on time, as I can't have missionaries in my home without him.

4:50- My babysitter for tomorrow calls. (I have a physical I have to do for my new job at VCU.) Her daughter has the flu. I gotta find another sitter.

5:00-I pre-heat the oven.

5:10-I put the chicken pot pie in the oven and the smoke alarm starts going off. Darn thing goes off so easily! I check the oven. Something is on the bottom of it. Oh well, the show must go on. I don't have time to turn the oven off, clean it, and pre-heat it again. I wipe it off as best as I can with wet and dry paper towels.

5:15-It goes off again. And again. And again. And again. I open all the windows...except for the one that slams shut by itself. We are still trying to get that all taken care of in our new home.

5:20- Gavin is scared by the alarm. I take him away to the computer. I type as he whacks at the keys and my arms.

5:30- Back to cleaning. I find the mop leaking water all over the floor after the alarm incident. Whoops.

5:40-An elder calls. They're waiting on their new comp. They won't get here til 6:20-6:30. No worries.

5:50- Dishes are done. I start to feed fussy Gavin. The alarm goes off. Sorry kiddo!

5:52-BEST PART OF THE DAY! Justin gets home from work! We play and wait for the missionaries. Gavin sure loves his daddy, as do I.

Whoops...I'm a dork and got myself in the picture. Our tablet camera is backwards.

6:40- The elders come over. There are 5 of them, and only one of them was here before! They seem like really awesome missionaries. Yay! We need them in our ward for sure. One is going to Portugal and is waiting on his visa. It was fun to speak some Portuguese with him. We eat dinner and chat.

7:20- We sit down for the missionaries to teach a lesson when a strange voice is coming from the kitchen. It sounds electronic, but there aren't any phones or tablets in the kitchen. We all pause, and it's Cortney talking outside, and my windows were still open from the alarm incident.

7:21- Shoot! I gotta get ready for my basketball game cuz my ride's here.

7:22- I'm running out the door. We're on our way to the game.

7:28- As we're driving, we chat and the girls say they're both available to babysit Gavin tomorrow, if need be. Man, I'm friends with some awesome gals.

7:50- We get there, ready to warm up, but there's another game going on. We watch the game and do our pre-game routines (potty time, waterbottle fill up, etc., etc.).

7:52- I see some of my friends from the singles' ward. I chat with them. Lovely ladies.

8:10- Their game is over. I chat with one of the players from the singles' ward. She's looking for a job. J's job is doing a competition to get new hires. I just wanna win $500 bucks, ok? :) She's interested. Awesome. I'll text her J's e mail. Bomb diggity.

8:11- We're warming up. I didn't make a single shot. Darn. This is officially my fifth basketball game of my life. I have also never scored a single point in a basketball game. It's been my goal to make a shot in a game for the past three games.

8:15- Prayer time before the game. We're playing a team in the competition who we played before. Let's just say the last game was a bloodbath....and we walked off the court before the game. Oh boy.

8:30- Game's a toughy. We're hanging in there. They're the home team....and favored over us. Oh well. The game must go on.

8:32- I SCORE A THREE POINTER. HOLY SCHNIKEES. THAT WAS A SHOCKER!

8:33- Half time. I get lots of, "Nice, Janae." Wow. I'm still kind of in shock. I gotta tell J about this when I get home.

8:55- Game's over. We lost. No biggie. It's a double elimination bracket. We'll play this Saturday. Dang it! I'm not gonna be there. Luckily, it's for something fun. We're headed to the temple this weekend and are gonna hang out with some family at the zoo. Justin, Gavin, Mason (5), Marshall (2), and I are gonna have a blast! Yay!

9:00- So.......Ice cream? Done. Lauren, Cortney, and I go to Chick-Fil-A (one of my fave Southern things here) and get some shakes. Yum. We munch and chat.

9:30-Ok. Maybe we should get home to our families. Our kiddos are probably asleep and hubbies are so lonely without us. ;)

10:00- They drop me off. Poor J looks exhausted. Gavin kept crying for an hour. Poor J. J says he spit up multiple times. There's evidence of that on the floor, as well as on J's lack of clean clothes. Poor Baby G. He probably has an upset tummy.

10:05- Clean up time! I start the dishes, and pick up stuff left over from dinner.

10:15- Man, I'm tired. We go upstairs to snuggle. Baby G is whimpering in his sleep.

10:30- Lights out! G wakes up. I feed him. I fall asleep somewhere in there.

I hope you enjoyed a day in the life!

Life is great. Love, Janae and clan :)
